RYT Profile Resource Center

There’s no better way to introduce yourself to the online yoga community than by completing your Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT®) profile, but this task requires time and personal reflection. To help members get started, we put together some tips and suggestions. Whether you’re just getting started on your bio or are looking to make it even better, read the following articles on creating a profile that lives up to your name and watch our Online Workshop recording about how to maximize your presence on the Yoga Alliance Directory.

Participants’ Experience and Lessons Learned

In 2014, we held a RYT Profile Contest. Split up into five assignments, contest participants completed and shared different aspects of their profiles: the bio, pictures, teaching hours, types of yoga taught and teaching experience.

We were impressed by the high-quality submissions we received during the contest and are proud that we could draw on our own members’ professional and creative RYT profiles to put together our profile-making tips. Here’s what some of the participants featured in our tips had to say about their experience:

"I'm no computer technology whiz, so the prospect of learning the new Yoga Alliance® profile platform wasn't high on my priority list. I looked at it a few times and thought no, I'll come back later. By design, the contest broke profile creation into small and quickly achievable chunks,” Sue, RYT 200, of Ontario (featured in: Build Your Online Yoga Resume)

“We all want to share our love of yoga AND hopefully pay the bills with it, but without getting your business game face on, the chances of that happening are a flat zero percent. I think this contest helped drive that point home and ignited the beginning of many successful careers,” Stacy, RYT 500, of Florida (featured in: Tips for Crafting Your Yoga Bio)

“Participating in the contest helped raise my awareness of the different features of the site but also helped me to connect with other RYTs throughout the process and learn a little bit about our diverse community. Scanning other profiles also opened my eyes to different approaches to teaching,” David, RYT 200, of Florida (featured in: Tips for Crafting Your Yoga Bio)
