Yoga Alliance Cancellation and Refund Policy

At Yoga Alliance, we want to ensure that new members are happy with their benefits and that changes to our policies are well-received by existing members. The following policy describes the process and eligibility for canceling or opting out of your Yoga Alliance membership (“membership”).
Eligibility
There are two ways to be eligible to cancel your Membership:
- New RYT Member: Within the past 30 days, you became a first-time member with Yoga Alliance and subsequently decided that you no longer want to continue that membership.
- Recent Changes to Yoga Alliance Policy: Within 30 days of Yoga Alliance providing notice about a new or updated policy for the 501(c)(6) and would like to opt out of your membership(s), including RYS, RYT, and YACEP.
Although we are sorry to see you go, please find details below on how to request your Membership be canceled.
New Member Cancellation Process
- To cancel, within 30 days after the start of your new, first-time RYT Membership, please send an email to cancellation@yogaalliance.org and provide the following information:
- Yoga Alliance ID Number;
- Full legal name associated with the account;
- Email address associated with the account;
- Best phone number to contact you;
- Join Date listed on your account; and
- Reason for cancellation (e.g., “I no longer desire to continue my membership.”)
- If verified as eligible for cancellation, Yoga Alliance will return the amount of your annual membership dues paid, less the one-time, initial application fee and any donations made to the 501(c)(3) Yoga Alliance Foundation during your application process within 30 days of the request. If Yoga Alliance determines the request is not eligible, we will respond via the email associated with your account, letting you know why you are not eligible.
- The refund will be tendered back to the original form of payment.
- Immediately upon issuing you a refund, your membership will be terminated. This termination includes, but is not limited to:
- Your rights to use the Yoga Alliance name and trademarks, please see Trademark Use Policy;
- All member benefits associated with your membership;
- All access to your Yoga Alliance account or any information in the account.
- Refunds may not immediately appear on your financial institution’s statement. Please contact your bank or credit card for assistance.
New or Updated Yoga Alliance Policy Opt Out Option
- To cancel, within 30 days after you receive notice from Yoga Alliance of a new or updated [membership] policy, please send an email to cancellation@yogaalliance.org and provide the following information:
- Yoga Alliance ID Number;
- Full legal name associated with the account;
- Email address associated with the account;
- Best phone number to contact you;
- Join Date listed on your account; and
- Reason for cancellation (e.g., “I am opting out due to the [name the policy] update.”).
- Yoga Alliance will review and process your request within 30 business days.
- If verified as eligible for cancellation, Yoga Alliance will issue a pro-rated refund of your annual membership dues for the time remaining on your annual membership. Refund will exclude the one-time, initial application fee and any donations made to the 501(c)3 Yoga Alliance Foundation during your application. If Yoga Alliance determines that the request is not eligible for a refund, Yoga Alliance will respond via the email associated with your account, letting you know why you are not eligible.

Auto-Renewal of Annual Membership
Your annual membership will automatically renew, and the credit card on file will be automatically charged the current membership rate, unless you cancel auto-renewal. To cancel, log in to your Yoga Alliance account, click “Billing” then “Auto Renewal” and select “Turn Off Auto Renewal.” Your membership will then end on your new renewal date. This will result in termination of your membership. Termination includes, but is not limited to:
- Your rights to use the Yoga Alliance name and trademarks, please see the Trademark Use Policy;
- All member benefits associated with your membership;
- All access to your Yoga Alliance account and any information in the account.
