April (she/they) initially discovered Hatha yoga in the early 2000s at their local gym in her home city of Lowell, Massachusetts. However, life moved her closer to the city of Boston and April lost touch with their yoga practice and fixated on weightlifting and cardiovascular exercise at the new gym she joined.
April reunited with her mat in 2016 to help heal from postpartum depression. However, she found so much more was awaiting them. The practice of yoga not only helped with the recovery from PPD, but also helped alleviate anxiety, manager her Crohn’s disease, and navigate through the pre and post symptoms of luteal seizures.
April received her 200-hour from Roots Yoga in Burlington, MA, and then her 300-hour certification with Down Under School of Yoga in Brookline, MA. April is also certified in HEALing Yoga levels 1 & 2 (YACEP) from Fluid Yoga/Padme PT, and a certified teacher for the Led Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga via David Swenson.
April loves to explore diverse movements that challenges while soothing the body and the mind- allowing students to find their edge and evolve their practice. She actively promotes teaching students how to dismiss the ego in order to find empowerment in the present. She is a firm believer in inclusivity, equality, and bringing the practice of yoga to all. Ensuring students feel safe and supported in class is the highest priority.
When she is not reading about, practicing or teaching yoga, she’s playing outside with her two sons, walking her two dogs, having a spontaneous solo dance party in her kitchen, or indulging in re-runs of ‘Parks & Rec’, 'Rick and Morty', ‘Letterkenny’, and ‘Big Mouth’ from the corner of the couch.
