Yoga Alliance and Yoga Alliance Foundation are working hard to support and amplify the movement to make yoga more inclusive and accessible to all. We have heard from many of our members that you would like additional training and tools to help enhance these two qualities in your work, and we are directing our resources to help meet that need.

That’s why we are excited to sponsor scholarships to the Accessible Yoga Conference in Toronto on June 22 through 24. Opportunities like this help build a strong network of teachers who support a diverse yoga culture that is inclusive and welcoming to people of all abilities and backgrounds. This builds on scholarships we offered for yogis to attend the Yoga Service Council Conference in May, and we will continue this effort with support for scholarships to the Accessible Yoga Conference in Europe in October.

Making conference attendance possible is just one way we hope to support more yogis in their journey to build an inclusive yoga culture in their classes and communities. In case you missed it, just this Wednesday we held a webcast discussion about fostering an authentic, inclusive space in the yoga classroom with three amazing teachers, Dianne Bondy, Cherie Hotchkiss, and Sid McNairy, who shared how they create an inclusive culture through representation, environment, and outreach. You can watch a replay of the webcast here if you’re interested in learning more.

You may have seen last month that we also welcomed three new members to our volunteer Board of Directors, all of whom hold special expertise in bringing yoga to underserved populations.

Each of these efforts will help us advance towards a common goal of making yoga more inclusive; our goal is ultimately to serve you better as you continue to do great work to elevate consciousness in our field.

If you have other ideas for ways Yoga Alliance & Yoga Alliance Foundation can advance inclusivity and accessibility in yoga, we would love to hear from you. Please stay tuned for more opportunities to join us in ongoing inclusion efforts.
